There are five fragrances on this site. That is deliberate, and it makes choosing considerably easier than it would be on a site with two hundred.
Here is how to go about it.
Start with what you have stopped wearing
Most people begin by describing what they like. It is more useful to look at the bottles you own and no longer reach for, and work out why.
Usually it is one of a few things. Too sweet by mid afternoon. Too loud for a room with other people in it. Fine for twenty minutes and tiring by lunchtime. Bought on a first impression that did not survive the day.
Those patterns repeat unless you name them, and naming them rules out more than any list of preferences will.
What the five actually are
The range splits in two. Classic is what we make for ordinary days, with the same composition work and hand finishing as the Exclusive range but materials that keep the price sensible. Exclusive is the heavier end.
Grasgróinn is green and clean with warmth underneath. It opens on spice and cut grass, settles into ozone, jasmine and musk, and finishes on vanilla and soft wood.
Oud Absolu is the heaviest thing we make and the one that lasts longest.
White Tea Del Mar, Verdant Zen Brew and Luminous Petal Tea sit between those two poles, built around tea and green notes rather than resin.
The method that works
One fragrance per day, on skin, for a full day. Not three in an afternoon: after the second your nose stops distinguishing them and you will choose whichever is loudest.
Put it on and then leave it alone. Do not check your wrist every ten minutes. The question you are answering is whether you catch it at three in the afternoon without looking for it, and whether you are pleased when you do.
Write one line at the end of each day. After five you will not otherwise remember which was which.
Why the first ten minutes mislead
What you smell immediately is the top notes, the lightest materials in the formula. They are gone within about fifteen minutes and they are the part designed to impress at a counter.
What you will actually spend the day with is the heart and the base. If a fragrance is going to disappoint you it will do it in hour four, not in minute one.
Getting samples
Two 1.5 ml samples come with every bottle, and you choose which at checkout. A Discovery Box holds five, one of each thing we make, which is enough to run the whole method above in a working week.
It is the cheapest way to find out, and it is the only method we know of that actually works. Nobody can smell a website.
Applying it
Two or three sprays is enough for almost anything here. On skin, on warmer places: the inside of the wrist, the side of the neck, the inside of the elbow.
Do not rub your wrists together. It generates heat, pushes the top notes through faster and shortens the opening you paid for.
Slightly moisturised skin holds fragrance noticeably better than dry skin. This is the only application advice that reliably makes a difference, and unscented moisturiser under the fragrance is the whole technique.
Clothing holds longer than skin but flattens the development, because fabric has no temperature gradient. Useful if you want persistence, less good if you want the composition to change through the day.
Free samples with every bottle
Every bottle ships with two 1.5 ml samples that you pick yourself at checkout. They are not an afterthought and they are not chosen for you.
The reason is straightforward. Someone who has just bought one fragrance is in the best position to work out which of the others suits them, and the cheapest way to find that out is on their own skin over two days.

If you are buying for someone else
Do not choose a bottle for them. Skin chemistry is most of the variable and you cannot predict it, which is why fragrance is such a common and such a poor gift.

Sizes
Everything comes in 30 ml and 50 ml. Unless you already know a fragrance suits you, 30 ml is the sensible choice. An opened bottle is at its best for two or three years, and most people overestimate how fast they get through one.
